Fishing vacation Czech Republic

Lake Lipno is an excellent place for a fishing vacation Czech Republic.

Lake Lipno is a true fisherman's paradise and is also called "the fishing pearl of South Bohemia" or "the sea of South Bohemia." The lake is known for its big fish. Especially pike (largest ever caught 26kg), zander (12kg) and carp (24kg). But roach, bream, catfish and trout are also caught here. For example, rainbow trout are released every year.

The lake is visited annually by 15,000 anglers, 3,000 of whom are from abroad. Although fishing in the lake is allowed all year round, there is a closed period for predatory fish from January 1 to July 15.

Unfortunately, because Lake Lipno is located in a nature reserve and the fish stock is actively monitored, the fishing license is expensive. Another reason for this is that the fish caught end up on the BBQ in the evening. In the Czech Republic carp is a delicacy. At Christmas people eat carp instead of turkey.

Behind the dam on the Vltava River, fly fishing for trout is common.

To fish in the Czech Republic, 2 permits are required.
- The state permit; this permit is valid for 1 year and applies to all of the Czech Republic. A Dutch fishing license or membership in a fishing association is sufficient as an alternative.
- The regional permit; you can buy this permit with a duration of your choice from 1 day to 1 year. This regional license can be bought after identification at a number of fishing stores and tourist information offices. A list of addresses and more detailed information can be found on the website www.crscb.cz.

If you wish, you can order the necessary permit in advance so that it will be ready for you at the reception desk when you arrive.
