South Bohemia

South Bohemia is a rare beautiful and watery area located between Prague and the Austrian border with many fairytale small towns. The area is characterized by beautiful natural areas that you can discover through the presence of many hiking and cycling routes. An ideal destination for a varied vacation.

Culture
History has left a special treasure of urban monuments in South Bohemia. The jewel is formed by Cesky Krumlov. Cesky Krumlov is on the Unesco World Heritage List. No Bohemian city has so much medieval architecture, it is not called little Prague for nothing.

Cultural heritage is also well preserved in other South Bohemian towns. Examples include the towns of Ceske Budejovice (known, among other things, for Budweiser beer), Trebon (spa town and beloved by tourists, also protected by UNESCO), Jindrichuv Hradec (many monuments from the Renaissance and Baroque periods), Bedhyne (known as a spa and rehabilitation center) and Tabor (monumental town center). Moreover, there are still many castles to be found in South Bohemia where culture lovers can indulge.

Nature
Nature in South Bohemia is characterized by the presence of Lake Lipno and the Šumava Mountains, among others, and is well worth a vacation.

Šumava Mountains or Bohemian Forest
The Bohemian Forest is a popular vacation area among nature lovers and winter sports enthusiasts. This natural area has been able to preserve its beauty well because until recently it was a military area which did not allow industry to settle here. Partly because of the good signage, hikers can optimally enjoy the many beautiful places in this mountain range. In winter there is plenty of skiing on the various slopes that are well equipped with elevators. The Bohemian Forest also offers many opportunities for cyclists and lovers of fishing and hunting. Trips by raft, canoe and rowboat are very popular, and since 1993 the area has had an extensive network of bicycle paths. In the Šumava rises the river Moldau (or Vltavou). About 20 kilometers downstream, this stream has (artificially) become the already mentioned Lipno Lake, in fact a large reservoir 48 kilometers long and several kilometers wide on average.
